Somebody's Saviour
He hasn't mentioned that he stopped off to put an angry spirit out of its misery on the way back from his two-day mini-roadtrip. He doesn't mention it because he doesn't want Cas to ask him why they didn't go together. Dean knows the answer will upset the other man, so instead he's bringing back supplies for what's going to be more freedom for Cas and some time they can use to look over the books he's picked up. He hasn't told Cas just how many libraries he's scoured since the wings appeared, but that's not important anyway. What's important is that he needs the answer.

When he steps foot through the door it's as he's slipping his cell back into his pocket. As much as he's not going to say it where anyone else can see or hear it, he's missed Cas too. But that much is obvious in the smile he's wearing as he sets his sights on the other man.

"Did I ever play you that song by Aerosmith?" He knows Cas didn't understand his reference from before, but he can probably change that by digging out the cassette he buried somewhere at the back of his collection.

"We'll sort it out once we've been to the store." Or the gas station. He knows the stores they have with them aren't really ideal when it comes to stocking up on supplies, but he's willing to deal with it if it means getting to the cabin that much sooner. "You can pull over somewhere quiet after and we'll find a way to cover them."

ooc; No worries. I was just making random sounds to join in.

The nod is more for show than anything else. His attention is back on the gas station. He needs to find somewhere to pull up unnoticed. They don't need gas, just food and something to drink. It's been longer than he cares to think about since he's had a beer.

"I'll get the food and you..." He's gesturing that Cas stays put. Not that it's any different from their usual routine.

ooc: As you do.

"I'll be right here when you get back." His smile is back again, even as he turns his attention toward the back window. He doesn't have the option of looking where they're going right now, so instead he's looking off toward the set of headlights far in the distance.

"I think I'd like a hotdog, with plenty of mustard on it. And some cookies." He has an entire list by now, but he's willing to leave off the rest in favor of letting Dean choose. The man always ends up picking at least one thing that he likes.

The hotdog is easy to remember - he's planning on getting one for himself. The cookies don't automatically spring to mind though, so he knows that's the part he has to remember. Chips and jerky always come as part of the deal.

"Don't get into any trouble." Which means not letting anyone see the wings, even if there isn't much Cas can do to help that. He offers a final, parting quirk of his eyebrows before he's out the car and headed up to sliding doors.

"I'll try my best." He twists in his seat, looking back over his shoulder so he can watch as Dean makes his way to the store. It's only once he's out of sight that Castiel practically collapses forward against the seat, his eyes squeezing shut and fingers tightening against the leather. He's had his wings freed for far too long over the past few days, and it's taking a lot more than he has left in him to keep them bound to his back again. He just wants to get out of there and up to the cabin now.

Five minutes later, all thanks to how long the geeky kid at the checkout was taking with each item, he's heading back to the car. He's trying to keep the breath of relief inside his lungs as he takes in the sight of the Impala just how he left it. No crowd with pitchforks and fire in sight.

Juggling the paper bag all the food for their trip is held in, he manages to open his door and slide it in, ducking down to take a look at how Cas has rearranged himself, or not.

"We got a couple hours straight through from here up to the cabin. You uh... get comfortable."

He jolts when Dean opens the door, and he's quick to try and cover up his previous position, not wanting to worry the man any more than he undoubtedly already has. Offering up a quick smile, he pulls back to sit on his knees again, getting to work on unbuttoning the front of his coat. He slides it free soon after, though not before taking a good look outside. It's only when he finally drops his hands to the bindings of his wings that he stops, looking back to Dean to make sure the man isn't rethinking this. One he unties them, he knows he wont have much luck tying them back up again while they're still inside the car.

"I can still get into the back if you'd prefer it."

ooc; JSYK, Cas has a TA post up now that may end up breaking Dean more. :/

"No. Sit wherever, however you want." He'll just stand outside the car keeping an eye on everything around them until Cas is done. What reminds unsaid is that he doesn't want Cas to be as uncomfortable as the first part of their journey made him. It's dark enough for them to have half the problem covered up anyway.

ooc: Because the guy isn't screwed up enough already. I was thinking Dean should do something in TA. I'll go stalk that post after this.

Nodding his head slightly, Castiel tugs on the knots in the material, unable to bite back the sigh of relief that rushes out the moment the bindings fall free. Stretching his wings out as best he can, he twists around, having a slight struggle before he gets them over the back of the seat. He doesn't manage to sit back fully, but it isn't something he minds. Not when it means he'll be able to sit next to Dean again.

"I need a hand." He holds his coat up toward Dean, knowing that it's the largest thing they have that could help hide his wings from view. "I know it's dark, but it's probably for the best."

ooc; This is Dean we're talking about. Come on. And agreed. Dean needs to be bugged more. :3

Dragging the coat out of the car, Dean takes a few seconds to open it out the right way before he's ducking back inside the car to do what Cas is asking of him. He tries to cover the wings up as much as possible, careful not to touch them anywhere he knows will catch the other man off-guard. He tucks it around the sides and then pulls back out so he can shrug his own jacket off and throw it into the mix. Repeating the same actions as before, he covers up the rest and then slides back into his seat, door creaking shut behind him.

ooc: True. I felt a bit unfair posting stuff anywhere really before I got broadband. Couldn't guarantee I'd get to it within a decent amount of time.

"Much." Though that may have more to do with the fact that, the moment Dean sits back down, Castiel presses himself against his side again. He has a contented smile on his face when he looks up, but it isn't long at all before he's turning his attention to the bag of food and tugging it over. He really is that hungry.

"Thank you, Mine. For all of this."

ooc; I don't blame you at all. Not to mention, it makes sense that he'd want to keep to himself for a long while anyway.

"You're welcome." He doesn't even attempt to get a handle on the bag to get his own food, despite how good the hotdogs smell. It's only the fact that he wants to keep Cas smiling that he lets it go, concentrating instead on pulling out and back onto the road.

He's also planning more for later, but for now he can actually keep his mouth shut. "Eat your hotdog and pass mine?"

ooc: If Cas is intent on leaving him there I suppose he's going to end up wandering. Still, he's not happy about the whole thing.

Despite Dean's request, it's his hotdog that Castiel pulls free first to hand over. He knows that once he starts to get on with eating, it isn't likely he'll stop until he's full. And while he knows he doesn't eat anywhere near as much as Dean does, he's not going to hold out on the other man that long.

"When we get there, I think I might have you for dessert." Somehow he manages to make the statement seem entirely innocent, even as he starts to dig in to his own hotdog, taking the time to lick mustard free from his fingers after each mouthful.

ooc; D: Well, he's going to be gone for a couple of days, but only back in their reality for like...half a day or something. He's just going in to hiding after.

He has to pay very close attention to the road, despite hearing Cas's lips around his fingers, licking the mustard he can smell off of them. He's already splitting his attention between both driving and his own hotdog, so another distraction doesn't do much for how well he's doing at staying on the right side of the road.

"I think we can arrange that." Or more likely, he'll deposit himself on the bed naked and see what Cas does next. It's something he's eager to get to, obvious in how his foot presses down further on the gas.

ooc: Dean's even less impressed. Maybe I should get him drunk somewhere public to make up for that. :D

The hotdog is gone in record time. Or rather, record time for him. It's a sign of just how hungry he'd been that he hadn't taken the time to savor each bite. Instead of following through with pulling something else free from the bag though, he settles down against Dean's side, his eyes slipping closed after a few moments.

ooc; Hahahah I say do it! But then, I'm biased.
