Somebody's Saviour

He hasn't mentioned that he stopped off to put an angry spirit out of its misery on the way back from his two-day mini-roadtrip. He doesn't mention it because he doesn't want Cas to ask him why they didn't go together. Dean knows the answer will upset the other man, so instead he's bringing back supplies for what's going to be more freedom for Cas and some time they can use to look over the books he's picked up. He hasn't told Cas just how many libraries he's scoured since the wings appeared, but that's not important anyway. What's important is that he needs the answer.

When he steps foot through the door it's as he's slipping his cell back into his pocket. As much as he's not going to say it where anyone else can see or hear it, he's missed Cas too. But that much is obvious in the smile he's wearing as he sets his sights on the other man.

"Did I ever play you that song by Aerosmith?" He knows Cas didn't understand his reference from before, but he can probably change that by digging out the cassette he buried somewhere at the back of his collection.

"You're welcome." He doesn't even attempt to get a handle on the bag to get his own food, despite how good the hotdogs smell. It's only the fact that he wants to keep Cas smiling that he lets it go, concentrating instead on pulling out and back onto the road.

He's also planning more for later, but for now he can actually keep his mouth shut. "Eat your hotdog and pass mine?"

ooc: If Cas is intent on leaving him there I suppose he's going to end up wandering. Still, he's not happy about the whole thing.

Despite Dean's request, it's his hotdog that Castiel pulls free first to hand over. He knows that once he starts to get on with eating, it isn't likely he'll stop until he's full. And while he knows he doesn't eat anywhere near as much as Dean does, he's not going to hold out on the other man that long.

"When we get there, I think I might have you for dessert." Somehow he manages to make the statement seem entirely innocent, even as he starts to dig in to his own hotdog, taking the time to lick mustard free from his fingers after each mouthful.

ooc; D: Well, he's going to be gone for a couple of days, but only back in their reality for like...half a day or something. He's just going in to hiding after.

He has to pay very close attention to the road, despite hearing Cas's lips around his fingers, licking the mustard he can smell off of them. He's already splitting his attention between both driving and his own hotdog, so another distraction doesn't do much for how well he's doing at staying on the right side of the road.

"I think we can arrange that." Or more likely, he'll deposit himself on the bed naked and see what Cas does next. It's something he's eager to get to, obvious in how his foot presses down further on the gas.

ooc: Dean's even less impressed. Maybe I should get him drunk somewhere public to make up for that. :D

The hotdog is gone in record time. Or rather, record time for him. It's a sign of just how hungry he'd been that he hadn't taken the time to savor each bite. Instead of following through with pulling something else free from the bag though, he settles down against Dean's side, his eyes slipping closed after a few moments.

ooc; Hahahah I say do it! But then, I'm biased.

"Where's the fire?" He reconsiders the phrasing and shakes his head, deciding not to confuse matters even further. He's never seen Cas eat anything that fast, and he still has a few bites of his own left balancing precariously between his fingers.

"You shoulda said you were that hungry."

ooc: He's going to be extremely embarrassed when he sobers up again. Just the way I like him. He may not mention what happens when he finally does catch up with Cas again. Cas may come back to find his name tattooed on Dean's ass though. Bwahaha.

"It didn't seem important." Not when Dean had already said that they would be stopping by a store. He's happy enough with how things went, and now that his stomach is a little fuller, he's willing to wait until they reach the cabin to fill himself up. He knows he'll be needing the energy soon enough.

ooc; It's about time Dean realises his ass belongs to Cas.

"Dude. Your stomach is always important." At least, that's how Dean sees things. If Cas is hungry, he needs to fix that. The fact that it's a seriously motherly trait seems to have passed him by. He's just putting it down to the fact that he is always in need of more energy than most. Hunting really burns up calories.

ooc: He knows. He just can't quite say it yet.

He huffs out a laugh, dropping a hand to Dean's thigh and squeezing gently. He knows that the man worries about him a lot more than he tries to let on, and it's something else that Castiel loves him for. He isn't used to being cared for that much.

"I don't eat as much as you, Dean. It really isn't important."

ooc; LMF. Coward. Actually, no. Winchester.

"Cas, it's important." Mostly because he's pretty sure carrying around the weight of those wings is a hard job in itself. It half-explains in Dean's head why the guy did a convincing job of inhaling the hotdog.

"But I got a ton of food." The proof of which is in the brown paper bag, provided they don't manage to eat through it before the end of the journey.

ooc: Precisely. He can't help it. It's in his genes.

"You're worrying too much." It's said affectionately though, his eyes blinking open again so he can tilt his head back and look up toward Dean. "It wasn't as though I was about to collapse from hunger." Though he'd be lying if he said it wasn't on the horizon. He just isn't used to having less than a meal a day now.

"We can eat properly once we get there."

ooc; Poor guy. D:

"I got a couple options for you for dessert." Which is both his way of agreeing they need more food and deciding when they get there, he's not letting Cas out of bed for anything. The food's getting taken to bed too.

Trying his very best to keep a straight face, he only looks genuinely serious as he glances in his rearview mirror, noticing the truck gaining on them fast. As long as they keep going the speed they're going at, he doesn't think they'll have a problem, but he's still concerned about Cas's wings.

ooc: He loooves Cas.

"Really? And what would they be?" As far as he's concerned, any kind of dessert tastes better when he's able to use Dean as a plate. And as given just what Dean's said to him before, he knows he's not the only one who enjoys it.

Sliding the bag of food down to the floor, Castiel reaches for Dean's hand instead, knowing that tugging his arm around his shoulders isn't an option right now. Instead, he consoles himself with tracing his fingers across Dean's palm, only barely aware of just what he's doing.

ooc; What a way to show it.

"One's good for you, the other's not." More specifically, fruit or chocolate. It isn't blueberries because he couldn't find any of those, but he did find a can of sliced peaches. The idea of how easy those would be to eat off of the other man sends a shiver up his spine, and he has to clear his throat and pull himself together to stop associating the gentle touch of Cas's fingers against his palm with other areas of his anatomy.

ooc: It's Dean. Cas would freak if he acted normally. Besides, I thought Cas loved him just the way he was?!

"Perhaps we could have both at the same time. Though it would probably be wise to save some until later too. I wouldn't want to waste it all at once." He threads the fingers of their hands, palms pressed together tightly. He knows that they can make use of every item in the bag, and if they need to make it last, it can be done. All he wants though is to make sure that Dean enjoys himself as much as possible.

ooc; Well, this is true. Both statement. D:

"Or you could just live for the moment and forget about being wise." Dean's suggestion isn't really anything but that. He's happy to go along with whatever Cas wants. He, just like the other man, is intent on making sure Cas enjoys himself as much as possible. He thinks the guy deserves a break, and to feel good, and he only knows one way to make that possible.

ooc: Dean's lucky like that.
